The Lawfare Project Issues Statement in Response to Recent Convictions by Amsterdam District Court
Ziporah Reich, Director of Litigation at The Lawfare Project, released the following statement in response to the convictions by the Amsterdam District Court of four men for their roles in the widespread violent attacks against Jewish soccer fans in November. The Lawfare Project, which represents over 80 victims of the attack, expressed deep disappointment over what amounts to a slap on the wrist for individuals who coordinated and participated in a brutal assault that terrorized Jewish fans and left some physically injured.
“These sentences fail to deliver true justice for the victims of this violent, coordinated attack. Jewish soccer fans were hunted down, terrorized, and physically assaulted simply for being Jewish. A few weeks in jail for those responsible does not send a strong enough message that such antisemitic violence will not be tolerated. The Lawfare Project, in coordination with Dutch counsel, will pursue every available legal avenue to hold both the attackers and those who failed to protect the victims fully accountable”
