CASE UPDATE: Psâgot Winery granted standing to defend its "Product of Israel" label in Canadian court

Dear friends,

I am writing to you with a major development in our Canadian product labeling litigation involving Psâgot Winery. The Lawfare Project and our partner firm, RE-LAW LLP, were successful in our motion for Psâgot to be added as a respondent in this case. Out of the 11 organizations attempting to intervene, only Psâgot was granted permission to defend its "Product of Israel" label.

This is a great step for justice, as Psâgot will finally be given the opportunity to make the case for fair and accurate labeling of its products. For years, all goods from all Israeli territories have been processed and labeled as "Products of Israel" without issue. That is, until radical political activists attempted to distort the regulatory framework for their own anti-Semitic agenda. Consumer product labeling should be used for consumer protection, not as a tool for politicized "advocacy" targeting Jewish-owned businesses.

Our client has every right to defend itself in the face of a clear attempt to discriminate, and we are pleased to have been granted the exclusive opportunity to wage this battle on behalf of world Jewry. The Lawfare Project and RE-LAW LLP are committed to seeing this case through and ensuring Psâgot gets the justice it deserves.

We could not have made it this far without your support. As always, I thank you for joining us in the fight for justice.

Sincerely,

Brooke Goldstein
Executive Director, The Lawfare Project
