400+ lawyers sign Lawfare Project letters to 100+ university presidents calling for removal, discipline of Students for Justice in Palestine and similar groups
“[Students for Justice in Palestine] has turned a corner and is openly and unashamedly celebrating and justifying the murder of Jews and Israelis. Imagine being a Jewish or Israeli student knowing that the genocide of your people is being promoted by your peers. Imagine sitting in class amidst fellow students who are reveling in the death of your relatives. Imagine that the authority figures responsible for ensuring your well-being responded to this hatred with no more than a short statement or, worse, remained silent.”
— The Lawfare Project
Last Tuesday, November 14th, The Lawfare Project issued letters to the presidents of more than 100 colleges and universities on calling for Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) and similar virulently antisemitic groups to either be removed from their campuses (at private institutions) or disciplined according to school policies (at public institutions). More than 400 attorneys also signed the letter, which demanded that institutions of higher education develop better safeguards to protect Jewish students.
These letters come after The Lawfare Project announced its Legal War Room which, combined with the #EndJewHatred movement, aims to bring unity and organization to the various lawyers, law firms, and civic organizations willing to fight for justice for the Jewish people.
“Colleges and universities across America are ground zero for antisemitic attacks,” said Brooke Goldstein, Founder and Executive Director of The Lawfare Project. “More must be done to protect Jewish students in light of the rising hate, discrimination, and intimidation coming from pro-Hamas organizations like SJP.”
