Welcoming Marilyn Chinitz and Alison Katz Wolfson to our Board of Directors!
Dear friends,
For those of you who celebrate, we wish you a happy Passover and a meaningful holiday.
We are delighted to welcome Marilyn Chinitz and Alison Katz Wolfson to The Lawfare Project's Board of Directors!
Marilyn Chinitz
Marilyn Chinitz, an attorney and partner at Blank Rome LLP, concentrates her practice in matrimonial law and is widely regarded as a fierce and formidable advocate for her clients — among them Tom Cruise, Michael Douglas, Anthony Scaramucci, Wendy Williams, and myriad public and private high-net-worth individuals. She has been recognized by Super Lawyers as one of the Top 50 Women Lawyers in the New York Metropolitan Area and has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Family Law in New York since 2013.
With more than 35 years of experience, Marilyn is a skilled negotiator in all facets of family law, including premarital and postnuptial agreements, spousal and child support, complex financial arrangements, same-sex divorce/dissolution matters, and paternity cases. She has litigated several cross-border and international custody cases, one of which involved the return of abducted children in proceedings filed under The Hague Convention, and regularly cooperates with foreign counsel in cases conducted abroad. She has argued winning appeals in the appellate courts of New York, and in trials before the family court and the supreme courts of New York.
Marilyn is a respected go-to commentator, frequently called upon to share her views and insights in print, online, and on television and radio. She has appeared on NBC's Today Show, ABC News' 20/20, Inside Edition, HLN's Headline News, and more. Her analyses cover a variety of issues helpful to parents and grandparents, mental health professionals, most importantly concerning the children who often become collateral damage in these fraught situations. She also hosts the popular podcast "Seriously Driven," which features her interviews with remarkable women from myriad walks of life — all of whom are her friends and are dedicated to helping other women succeed.
Among Marilyn's numerous accolades are the Geraldine Ferraro Award and the "Woman of Distinction in Law" award given by the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA), a cause near to her heart. She serves on the CCFA board of directors as well as the board of the Foundation for Gender Equality and is involved with the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation and the Food Allergy Initiative.
The mother of two adult children, Marilyn enjoys spending her limited free time on international travel, yoga, and cycling. She received her Bachelor of Arts from New York University and her Juris Doctor from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
Alison Katz Wolfson
Inspired by her first ever trip abroad — to Israel, with her mother in 1981 — Alison Katz Wolfson has been a proud Zionist and supporter of Jewish organizations both in the United States and Israel.
Alison has been an active member of the U.S. Advisory Board of HaShomer HaChadash since 2015, and of the AIPAC Manhattan Women's Executive Council since 2011. In addition, since its inception in 2012, Alison has been an active member of a Manhattan women's political group that meets with and raises funds for pro-Israel U.S. Senate and House candidates seeking election or re-election. Alison is also a founding board member of Theory of Enchantment, a new organization founded by Chloe Simone Valdary. Alison has given her time and resources to numerous other organizations including Belev Echad, Open Dor Media (formerly Jerusalem U), Jewish National Fund (JNF), My Truth, Sanctuary for Families, and Washington University.
Alison received her Bachelor of Arts from Syracuse University in marketing and finance. She worked in Manhattan real estate investment sales before earning her Master of Business Administration in real estate finance from Fordham University. She then worked on Wall Street as a lender in commercial mortgage-backed securities for nearly a decade. In 2001, she left the financial world to focus on family and philanthropy.
Alison has been an avid collector and patron of contemporary art for over three decades. Today, her personal collection of art has grown to more than 500 works. Alison's other interests include skiing, horseback riding, hiking, and fly fishing.
Alison lives in Manhattan and Aspen with her husband, Lawrence. Together they have two daughters, ages 18 and 21.
Our dynamic Board members play an essential role in shaping The Lawfare Project's strategy, growing and guiding the organization, and ensuring our continued success, and we cannot thank them enough for all they do.
As always, we hope you and your loved ones are in good spirits and staying healthy.
Our best regards,
The Lawfare Project
