Lawfare Project Hosts Alan Dershowitz

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Professor Alan Dershowitz (Felix Frankfurter Professor of Law, Harvard Law School) is to engage in a groundbreaking live discussion with Scott Horton(Contributing Editor, Harper’s Magazine) about whether or not “lawfare” is indeed a threat.

The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Sebastian Gorka (Military Affairs Fellow, Foundation for the Defense of Democracies) and the event is co-chaired byLawfare Project director, Fox News regular and award-winning filmmaker, Brooke Goldstein with Nicholas Rostow (Distinguished Professor, National Defense University.)

Dershowitz deems lawfare “one of the newest and most emergent threats to all liberal democracies, not just Israel,” urging us “not only to raise awareness about this phenomenon but work towards countering it.” Horton, on the other hand, condemns “crying ‘lawfare’ at every hostile contention in court” which he says, “suggests a lack of faith in judges, the legal system and the rule of law. No democracy should be afraid to justify itself on the law and before a court. If an adversary wants to use petitions and legal briefs instead of bullets and bombs, that’s good news!“

The event will pit two heavyweights in the policy world debating, for the first time, the most controversial legal issue of our time, the use of the law as a weapon of war by terrorists and their sympathizers against our national security interests.
