SUNY Downstate student dismissed from program after reporting professor's antisemitic comments
In early 2024, The Lawfare Project commenced representation of a Jewish student dismissed from the Physician Assistant program at SUNY Downstate Medical School. The student claims her dismissal was in retaliation for reporting antisemitic comments that were routinely made by one of her professors. Rather than addressing the discrimination, the school expelled the student.
Through a lengthy appeal process, The Lawfare Project successfully secured the student's reinstatement in the program. While this marks a significant victory, The Lawfare Project remains vigilant, continuing to monitor the situation and is prepared to take further action to ensure Jewish students are protected from discrimination and retaliation.
